If your society decides not to reregister it should either appoint a liquidator or apply to be dissolved before 5 April 2026. If it does nothing it will cease to exist.

Committees and officers
The new minimum requirements for committees, specific duties and eligibility criteria for officers. All committee members will be officers under the 2022 Act, and others may be too. Officers must consent to their appointment in writing.

What's changing for members
2022 Act societies must have a minimum of 10 members. Members can be individuals, body corporates (such as other societies) or unincorporated bodies (if your constitution permits this). Each new member must consent to being a member.

Reporting requirements
Once your society is registered under the 2022 Act, new reporting requirements apply. The requirements for financial reporting, completing annual returns and notifying us when details change.
