Updating your balance date on the register
How to request a change
All societies record their current balance date on the Incorporated Societies Register. This information is not displayed to the public, but it is important that the register has the right balance date recorded. It is used by the Registrar to help ensure your society files its annual financial statements and annual returns on time.
If your society’s balance date is recorded in its constitution, you will also need to follow the process for amending your society’s constitution.
Annual filings must be up to date
Before updating your balance date on the register, your society must be up to date with the filing of all its financial statements and annual returns. If you need more time to file any outstanding statements and returns, please request an extension.
